The Supreme Court’s decision today in Dobb’s v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, has affirmed that life is sacred and should be protected. But the battle for the protection of life is far from over. Extreme legislation for expanding abortion in the State of California is making its way through the Capitol. The governor of California vows to enshrine abortion into the State's constituion. The vision of the State of California is to make the choice of ending a life so much easy by providing full support to women who opt for abortion while leaving out talks of equitable services for women who are struggling as mothers or those who look forward to keep their child's birth. The California Catholic Conference (CCC) issues this statement: "From decades of holding the hands of those struggling with the decision to have an abortion, we know that for many women, abortion is not a choice they want to make but rather a choice they feel they have to make. From our work with mothers and families, we know they don’t need expanded abortion services. They need housing assistance, prenatal and postpartum care, protection from domestic violence, paid family leave, and maternity accommodations from employers. With rising inflation and soaring housing and healthcare costs, California is not an easy place to raise a child. We pledge to expand access to life-affirming services that empower women in our state with the confidence that they won’t walk through pregnancy or parenting alone or fearful." In a word, the CCC envisions to provide life affirming support and practical resources "so that all families can thrive and so that no woman feels trap into the devastating decsion to end a llfie by abortion."
